Ai iz smart!

I’ve been hankering to buy a new copy of Photoshop.  I bought  CS3 Extended a couple years ago (found a great deal on it at Software King).  But it crashed when my old computer crashed last summer.  I still have the discs.  Somewhere.  I haven’t been able to find them. I’m sure they’re around here somewhere, but I’m tired of looking for them.  Hence the desire to buy it anew.

Photoshop is now up to version CS4, but as expected, it’s crazy expensive.  (I can’t buy the upgrade because I don’t have the serial information for the version I lost.)  And apparently it’s buggy.  (They upgraded the way the graphics card works and both your computer and graphics card need a certain amount of RAM.)  Then there’s the issue of my Photoshop tutorial books.  They’re geared towards CS3, and who knows how applicable they are with CS4.

Then yesterday, I had one of those light bulb moments.   Why not see if I can still buy CS3?  And you know what?  I can! And it’s freakin’ cheap! Well, cheap by Photoshop standards.  And, I won’t have to worry about downloading a new graphics card driver or buying new tutorial books.  Whee!  I’m so excited!  The only problem is I won’t get the software until after the 4th of July holiday.  But I guess that’s for the better.  If I had it now, I’d most likely spend the entire long weekend playing with it instead of getting out and enjoying the day.

    I love this layout!

I have no comment on PS. I haven’t used it since, like, the 1999 version. Or something.

There was a time when I considered buying Photoshop, but then gave up on the idea because I wasn’t willing to spend the kind of money it cost for software I knew I would perhaps not even use to half of its potential. That’s how I ended up with Photoshop Elements.

Ah, I like the new theme very much.

Natalie, glad you like the design. It’s quite different and a bit more up to date than the previous one. However, still no threaded comments. I might be able to figure out how to modify the theme to allow it, but I’m nowhere near ready to do that yet.

I totally understand about Photoshop, Franscesca. I keep wondering how all these young people who use it could afford it. Maybe they bought the student version, which is quite inexpensive compared to retail. Or maybe they have a pirated copy.

I guess one of the good things that comes with age is the ability to afford some of life’s little niceties. Not that I’d EVER spend $900 on graphics software, but… Oh, you saw my rationalization in my post. :D

I once heard that Photoshop is one of the most pirated applications in the world. Actually, I can understand how this came to be, as it is also one of the most expensive, if we consider software that can be of interest to “ordinary” people.

I would never spend $ 900 on graphics software; I would only buy Photoshop, if I ran into a great deal on it (which would mean kind of half-price), then perhaps I would have to try and find the time to learn how to use it properly.

    NINE HUNDRED BUCKS?!!!

I had Photoshop once. It wasn’t a pirated copy, but it was many years ago and it either came free with my computer or with some other software or something, and was probably a “lite” version. I knew it was pricey, but had no idea how much!

Gail, I forgot to say that there are tutorials out there explaining how to modify Wordpress themes so that they allow threaded comments. When you have time to do so, have a look at the docs at the wordpress.org site and you may be able to find them.
